United States Naval Sea Cadets - Atterbury Battalion
Training today's youth to be tomorrow's leaders
"...through organization and cooperation with the Department of the Navy, to encourage and aid American youth to develop, train them in seagoing skills, and to teach them patriotism, courage, self-reliance and kindred virtues."- NSCC Charter - 36 USC 1541
In addition to core USNSCC subjects, at Atterbury Battalion we take advantage of the background that our adult volunteers have in public safety, our strong partnership with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and other EMS organizations, and the training facilities available at Camp Atterbury JMTC to provide a strong focus on public safety and self-reliance. Some of the training sessions that we have recently conducted include Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) operations, ground search awareness, land navigation, ice rescue, and wilderness survival. We prioritize giving our cadets the skills and encouraging their desire to be an asset to their community and also stress the importance of being able to self help in many situations and avoid situations where help would be needed.
We can also help you find answers about units outside of our area, but for a more direct connection to a unit near you, please try the Unit Locator on the national program's web site.
